Compare and contrast a landscape photograph with a landscape painting. Discuss the expressive possibilities of each medium using your examples to illustrate your argument. Choose your examples carefully as representative of the medium.
The first picture shown below is a painting of Yosemite's famous Half Dome, and the second picture is a photograph of the same thing. The painter has a bit more interpretation available to her than the photographer. While the photographer can only take a photo of what the lens sees, the painter has various colors and brush styles that she can use. She can include more desired objects, such as trees or fields, unlike the photographer. But, on the same note, the photographer's photo is much more clear and sharp, while the painter's painting lacks that edge.
